Basket Weavers’ Guild

The Central Pennsylvania Basket Weavers Guild was founded in January, 1997 by Linda Clifton. It is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization whose purpose shall be to perpetuate the art of basketry; stimulate public appreciation, knowledge of and interest in basketry; and emphasize the importance of basketry as a heritage craft.

Membership to the Central Pennsylvania Basket Weavers' Guild includes open attendance to all guild meetings. Monthly guild weaves are held in January, February, March, May, June, July, August, October, and November. An annual Weaving Retreat is held in April for current members only, fees extra. We also host a basket convention, A Weaving Odyssey each September. No guild meetings are scheduled in December. Membership dues are $20 per calendar year (January 1 to December 31). Dues cannot be prorated. New members are invited to join the Guild! Dues are $20. New members who join the guild in September at the Weaving Odyssey will receive four months free, as well as the following calendar year. The CPBWG’s members are from Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia, and several other states. We welcome new members! If you would like to attend one class before becoming a member, contact the Program Chair.

Guild weaves are for current members.

If you are interested in taking a class, and are not currently a member, you are invited to try one class, paying whatever  class fees are posted.  All adults are welcome; minors between 14 and 18 must have a parent present. You MUST  contact Marilyn, the program chair, before attending as a nonmember.
